Privacy & Use

Where data lives

Conversation history, display preferences, supported text attachments, and saved document collections are stored in this browser's IndexedDB. Maia Chat does not persist conversations or uploaded files on its server.

Inference and attachments

When you send a message, its text and any attached text-file content are sent to the configured Ollama inference service so it can generate a response. Do not submit secrets, passwords, financial information, or sensitive personal data unless you control and trust the whole deployment.

Web search

When an operator enables private SearXNG search and you run a search, Maia Chat sends the query to that configured search service. Maia Chat does not retain search queries or results on its server. Sources you select are stored in your browser conversation and are sent to the configured inference service with the message so Maia can cite them.

Logs and retention

Application logs record operational metadata such as request IDs, paths, status codes, durations, model IDs, token counts, and stable error codes. They do not log prompts, completions, attachment contents, authorization headers, or API tokens. Browser data is retained until you delete a conversation, remove the document or its collection, or clear the browser's site data. Export your history before clearing browser data if you want to keep it.

Model limitations

Language-model output can be incomplete, inaccurate, biased, or unsafe for a particular context. Review important facts and code independently. Maia is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or safety advice.

Acceptable use

Use Maia lawfully and responsibly. Do not use it to harm others, bypass security controls, distribute malware, violate privacy, or create deceptive content. Operators may apply capacity limits to protect the service for all users.
